Pet owners in Turkey are switching from meal leftovers to packaged petfoods for their pets, according to Euromonitor International's Dog Food in Turkey report.
The report attributes the rise in demand for packaged petfoods to Turkey being a developing country where disposable incomes are rising. Additionally, the number of pet owners is rising, and pet owners are becoming more aware of the well-being of their animals. In 2011, dog food retail volume grew by double digits. The report, available for purchase online, also offers data on the dog food market in Turkey, identifies leading dog food companies and brands, and provides forecasts to 2017.
