      • US Private-equity firm Swander Pace Capital invested in UK-based Cambrian Pet Foods, though the terms of the deal were not disclosed.
      • Dr. Gordon Hering joined Kemin as a research and development director for the company’s petfood division.
      • Dr. Mark E. Peterson won the Veterinarian of the Year Award from the Veterinary Medical Association of New York City in New York, USA. 
      • Microscan, a developer of barcode, vision and lighting technologies that opened in 1982, is celebrating 30 years in the Auto ID and machine vision business.
      • EAS Consulting Group hired Stephen F. Sundlof, DVM, Ph.D., as an expert consultant on a contract basis.
      • KSE Process Technology B.V. hired Peter Naessens as a sales manager for the Belgium and France markets.
      • Pet360 Inc., parent company of petMD.com and PetFoodDirect.com, hired Dr. Jeffry Nimeroff as chief information officer.
      • PTI-Europe, a subsidiary of Plastic Technologies Inc., established a Mocon Inc.-certified permeation testing laboratory at its facility in Yverdon, Switzerland.
      • Hydro-Thermal Corporation is collecting nonperishable food and personal hygiene products and money for its "Support the Troops" event to benefit the 372nd Engineering Company for the Army Reserve in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA.
      • Hydro-Thermal Corporation hired Thomas Tellefson as chief financial officer. 
      • Romatec Inc. was named Representative of the Year 2011 for North America by Hydro-Thermal Corp. 
      • BASF, a chemical company, will build a new production plant for formic acid at its site in Geismar, Louisiana, USA, expected to start production in second-quarter 2014.
      • Karen Howard was named as president of the National Animal Supplement Council. The previous president, Bill Bookout, will serve in a newly formed position with Kemin Industries as vice president of global sales for the Animal Nutrition and Health Vet division, but will remain as chairman of the board of the National Animal Supplement Council.
      • Packaging machine manufacturer Oystar appointed Markus Ehl and Barry W. Shoulders as co-CEOs. 
      • Quantum Foods, a further processor of protein, completed installation of a US Food and Drug Administration-approved High-Pressure Pasteurization System.
      • Food Safety Net Services welcomed Dr. Amit Morey to its science and technical team. 
      • Kemin Industries began construction on a new research and development facility in Des Moines, Iowa, USA, which will have two general laboratories, six shared laboratories and three pilot laboratories when completed. 
      • Graybar appointed David Bender as Atlanta, Georgia, USA, district vice president, and appointed Kirk Snure as Seattle, Washington, USA, district vice president, both effective July 1.
      • Key Technology appointed Govert van Drunen to the position of channel sales manager for the company's European operation.
      • Central Garden & Pet Company says it will begin phasing operations into a new shared services center in Boise, Idaho, USA, in June, which will provide transactional processing services for the company's US operations.
      • Nutri-Vet hired Evok Advertising to provide branding, advertising and marketing support for the company's veterinary formulated wellness products for dogs, cats and horses.
      • UK gardening company Westland Horticulture acquired Cranswick Pet Products for £18 million (US$29 million) with the intention of growing its market share in Europe's wild bird food sector.
      • PetMD.com released its "Pet Guide to Going Green" with six tips for pet owners to become more environmentally friendly. 
      • EDL Packaging Engineers Inc. hired Larry D. Cozine as director of sales. 
      • Accraply Inc. will expand its line of shrink-sleeve labeling equipment with its recent acquisition of Turpins Packaging Group Ltd.
