Over 620 members of the livestock feed and pet food industries attended the 2011 Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Conference, an annual three-day event of the American Feed Industry Association held in Las Vegas, Nev., from March 2 through 4.

Tanya Dowda with Land O’Lakes Purina Feed provided the event's opening remarks and was followed by Al Gunderson, chairman of the IFEEDER board of trustees. Topics discussed throughout the show included the domestic and international states of the agriculture industry, a grain outlook and a long-term weather update. A sustainability panel focused on what the feed industry should be prepared for in the coming years, and a presentation was given on the integration of feed industry practices into the global food safety approach. “I am continually impressed by the knowledge and positive attitudes PISC attendees bring to the table,” said Joel G. Newman, AFIA president and CEO. “We are in the midst of some of the greatest changes our industry has ever seen, and our members leave PISC energized and ready to tackle the challenges lying ahead.”

The 2012 Purchasing and Ingredients Suppliers Conference will be held March 12 through 16, in Orlando, Fla.
