Great Life Pet Food was acquired by California, USA-based Barkstrong. Barkstrong announced the finalized acquisition on May 31, according to a press release. A distribution partnership with several key regional pet specialty distributors will widen the reach of Great Life Pet Food’s natural pet food. The USA-based pet foods are made with recipes designed to reduce food-related issues like allergies, sensitivities and digestive ailments.

Great Life Pet Food was initially founded by Elliot Harvey, MH. "Dr. E" (as he is referred to) studied a form of eastern medicine that originated in China 5,000 years ago. His travels and unique homeopathic principles enabled him to grow from an operation out of his garage in California to a full pet food manufacturing plant in the US Midwest.
Known for his special "Dr. E" formula, the currently available product line includes, Grain Free Great Life Chicken, Grain Free Great Life Buffalo, Grain Free Great Life Wild Salmon, and Dr. E's Grain Free LID Buffalo.
Great Life will be available for purchase online starting in late June 2018, with distribution through Pet Specialty following shortly in Washington, Oregon, Southern California, Illinois, USA and Western Canada.
Wild Calling! Pet Foods acquired after bankruptcy
On May 29, California, USA-based Barkstrong announced the completion of its acquisition of Colorado-based Wild Calling! Pet Foods, which had filed for bankruptcy protection in October 2017.
Through a distribution partnership with several key regional pet specialty distributors, Wild Calling will re-release its pet food nationally.
Wild Calling is available through pet specialty retailers, the acquisition provides distribution in Washington, Oregon, Southern California, Illinois and Western Canada. Wild Calling is also available for purchase online.
Wild Calling! Pet Foods was initially founded in 2012 by the Petersen family as Natural Pet Marketplace.
Barkstrong acquires Pioneer Naturals dog food
California, USA-based Barkstrong completed its acquisition of Pioneer Naturals dog food, also based in California, on June 12 and through a distribution partnership with several key regional pet specialty distributors is widening the reach of their value-priced, natural pet food.
The Pioneer Naturals brand contains a kibble that is US-sourced and is cooked at the lowest possible "safe" temperature, according to a press release. The objective there is to effectively handle any raw material pathogens while striving to maintain the maximum amount of nutrients biologically available after the cooking process.
