KibbleCon 2024 dates announced

KibbleCon is a premier pet food live conference hosted by the Petfood Program at Kansas State University.

KibbleCon 2024 is scheduled for October 23–24, 2024, on the Kansas State University campus located in Manhattan, Kansas, U.S. KibbleCon is a premier pet food live conference hosted by the Petfood Program at Kansas State University.

The conference includes insightful panel presentations featuring industry experts, live Q&A sessions, faculty and graduate students new research presentations, inspiring keynote speakers, and many networking opportunities with industry partners and friends.

“K-State has been hosting this hallmark event since 2017, and 2024 will provide a terrific and compelling agenda for the industry and university partners and supporters,” says Dr. Julia Guazelli Pezzali, K-State Assistant Professor and Petfood Program Director.

“The K-State Petfood Program features a diverse team of experts from grain science, agricultural economics, engineering, food science, food safety, and nutrition. All working together on research to promote the health and well-being of cats and dogs while also contributing to pet food industry growth. Hosting KibbleCon is yet another way we bring pet food experts, key influencers, industry suppliers, and scientists together to promote the future of this dynamic industry,” said Dr. Pezzali.

The K-State pet food program works closely with industry partners and is poised to expand its capabilities with the new Global Center for Grain and Food Innovation. “Having collaborative workspaces and interdisciplinary approaches will be the top two benefits of the new buildings,” remarked Dr. Hulya Dogan, Interim Department Head of Grain Science and Industry. Construction of the Global Center for Grain and Food Innovation is expected to be completed in the late summer of 2026.

KibbleCon 2024 will feature an evening welcome and networking reception, a keynote speaker, presentations on petfood industry trends and challenges by experts, an interactive panel discussion, a faculty and graduate student poster session showcase, and access to new products and capabilities available from select industry suppliers. The conference will conclude with informal dinner discussions led by several industry professionals.

“KibbleCon is broader than just kibble topics, just as the pet food industry is so much more than extrusion,” said Dr. Kathy Gross, K-State Adjunct Professor and retired Worldwide Director at Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc. “KibbleCon is a forum where those dedicated to the pet food industry come together to share thoughts, discuss challenges and develop relationships to solve common issues facing the industry,” Dr. Gross remarked.
