The Ty-Rap line of detectable cable ties from Thomas & Betts Corporation now includes mounting bases made from materials that are identifiable by X-ray equipment, metal detectors and visual detection equipment. Mounting bases are available as two- and four-way adhesive-mount and screw-mount models. Ty-Rap detectable cable ties and accessories are made of either nylon 6.6 (polyamide) or polypropylene, a polymer that gives the product buoyancy for visual detection in liquid processing applications. Both materials contain additives that increase the product’s magnetism and density, enabling its recognition by metal detectors and X-ray equipment. The cable tie’s bright blue color makes it clearly perceptible for easy visual detection, especially in food processing applications, according to the company.
