During the second white paper in the series, the coronavirus played a part in decisions consumers were making in all areas, including an increase in pet ownership, spending time at home with pets and changes in consumer behavior. In 2023, some of the trends from 2021 remained the same while others either increased or decreased.

For example, when looking at all three survey results, there are some significant findings manufacturers should take into account when making packaging decisions. Highlights include freshness as a result of closability, packaging material satisfaction, noticeable and easy-to-read labeling and the presence of sustainability and recyclability logos on the packaging.
