As Director of Companion Animal research for Cargill Health Technologies (CHT), Dr. Sharon A. Norton is responsible for strategically defining and facilitating research as a means to advance science and meet customer needs. She is also responsible for forming connections with leading academics, institutes, and companies to advance evidence-based thought leadership in the companion animal sector encompassing dog, cat, horse, rabbit, and backyard flock programs. Dr. Norton joined CHT in 2021. Prior to joining the organization, Dr. Norton was the Swine Technology Application Lead within the Cargill Animal Nutrition Division. Dr. Norton has over 30 years of experience in product and program development in the pet, agricultural, and human nutrition sectors serving at the Mathile Institute for the Advancement of Human Nutrition, Proctor & Gamble, the IAMS Company, and the Wayne Feeds Division of Continental Grain. Dr. Norton earned both her BS and MS in Animal Nutrition from Virginia Polytechnic & State University. She received her Ph.D. in Monogastric Nutrition from Oklahoma State University and was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the USDA-ARS in Beltsville, Maryland.
