Every year finds the pet food industry grappling with more complexity, more nuance and greater responsibility to its consumers, and 2017 was no different. With a significant focus on ingredients, e-commerce and what customers want for their pets, the year found companies scrutinizing their packaging, labeling, ingredient composition and even their place in the industry relative to consumer perception. As it turns out, the new year is likely to bring more of the same, with an even stronger focus on pet nutrition, as well as company accountability and responsibility. According to industry experts, three top trends will play heavily into 2018 pet food business: the “clean” movement, traceability and accountability, and sustainability. In this webinar, “Top pet food trends for 2018,” attendees will learn how these three trends are presenting in the pet food industry. Backed by domestic (US) and international data, the trends will be shown as influencing all aspects of the industry, including manufacturing, labeling, packaging and overall industry direction. In addition, other notable trends (such as the continuing evolution of the grain-free movement) will be highlighted, and a summary for the pet food industry in 2018 will be presented. Paula Flores is Euromonitor International’s Global Head of Pet Care Research. In her current post, Paula has direct responsibility over the content and quality of Euromonitor’s Pet Care research, which provides strategic analysis and industry insights for 54 countries around the world. She is also responsible for working closely and directly with Euromonitor’s international client base. Paula joined Euromonitor in June 2008 as a research analyst. She has published articles in magazines such as Pets International and Campaign Asia as well as participating in BBC Fast Track programme. Paula has a degree in law from the University of Lisbon, and is currently completing a masters degree in market research at Westminster University. Back in Portugal, where she is originally from, Paula has a Rottweiler and a Yorkshire Terrier.
Lindsay Beaton is the managing editor of Petfood Industry magazine, a monthly print and digital publication focusing on the interests of global pet food and pet treat manufacturing professionals, published by WATT Global Media. She is also the author of a bi-weekly, industry-focused blog, “Trending: Pet Food,” where she discusses the latest trends in pet food, including various market segments, pet nutrition, consumer impact and other hot topics. Lindsay received her Master's degree in Writing and Publishing from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, USA. She has been in the business-to-business publishing industry since 2006.
