Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc. recently released survey results about the pet vendor and retail markets during the first quarter of 2011. The pet supplier retail survey found that through the first quarter of 2011, sales were in-line with expectations, with 38% of retailers reporting better-than-expected sales and 26% reporting sales short of expectations.

Pedigree set to launch Dental Care Month for dogs in June
Petfood brand Pedigree (Mars) will launch its 2011 Dental Care Month campaign in June, to raise awareness of oral health for dogs. Figures show that a very high proportion of dogs suffer from gum disease and many owners are unaware that dogs need regular dental care, according to Pedigree.

Natural petfood co. donates dog treats to Utah animal sanctuary
Old Mother Hubbard recently donated 3,600 bags of its Chick’n’Apples and Fish’n’Waves dog snacks to Best Friends Animal Society’s animal sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, USA. Old Mother Hubbard said the donation was made through the company’s WellPet Foundation, which aims to support organizations and activities dedicated to the well-being of dogs and cats.

Petfood manufacturer plans expansion in Jupiter Park, Florida, USA
Petfood manufacturer Life's Abundance recently purchased a 1-acre plot in Jupiter Park, Florida, USA, where the company plans to build a new headquarters and distribution facility. Lester Thornhill, the company's president, said Life's Abundance will build a 21,000-square-foot facility that is valued at US$3.1 million, including the US$600,000 it paid for the land.

Missouri, USA, man given 'cease and desist' order for petfood companies
A Montgomery City, Missouri, USA, man has been ordered out of business by the secretary of state and could face charges for selling more than US$6 million in unregistered stocks and bonds in his petfood companies, according to ozarksfirst.com. Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan issued a "cease and desist" order for Frank Renick and his companies for allegedly misleading up to 700 investors in at least four states.
