Food manufacturing equipment auction to be held November 14

GoIndustry DoveBid, a global provider of surplus asset management, auction and valuation services, will be conducting a one-day online auction featuring an assortment of late-model food manufacturing, packaging and processing equipment from a major food distributor, including: product blending, vacuum frying and dehydration systems. US election outcomes could affect petfood safety, labeling

When I was in Shanghai, China, a few weeks ago for Petfood Forum China and Pet Fair Asia, I was somewhat surprised by the number of people who asked about the US presidential election on November 6. I suppose I underestimated how integrated China is becoming into the global economy and political scene, and how much news from outside the country reaches its citizens despite government censorship and blocking of certain media.

PIJAC urges California, USA, to vote down petfood labeling proposal

In the elections on November 6, residents in California, USA, will have the chance to vote on a proposal that could impact petfood labeling requirements in that state. Proposition 37 is a labeling initiative aimed at providing consumers with information about "genetically engineered food," including petfood.

First Petfood Forum China a success

The first Petfood Forum China drew more than 170 petfood professionals from China, Japan, Thailand, the US and Europe, exceeding the goal of organizers Petfood Industry and Watt Publishing. The conference was held October 12 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center in conjunction with the annual Pet Fair Asia trade show.

Design firm Bobbye Chochran + Associates won two American Graphic Design awards from Graphic Design USA magazine for packaging designed for pet treat company Lincoln Bark. Awards were given for Lincoln Bark's Treat Smart dog treats and Doggie Sprinkles.

Subplot petfood packaging designs awarded at Pentawards Competition

Subplot Design Inc. received two awards at the 2012 Pentawards Worldwide Packaging Design Awards Competition, recently held in Paris, France. Subplot's GO! packaging received a Gold award, while NOW Fresh packaging received a Bronze award. Both packaging designs were created for petfood manufacturer Petcurean Pet Nutrition.

Subplot received a Gold award for GO! packaging and a Bronze award for NOW Fresh packaging the company designed for Petcurean.
