Effects of rendering on meat and bone meal
This study evaluated the effect of two rendering processes applied to meat and bone meal (MBM) production, associated or not with extrusion, by measuring diet apparent total tract digestibility of dogs and cats and true digestibility of amino acids (AA) by cecectomized roosters. Four diets were evaluated: conventional and extruded MBM; high temperature and pressure (HPT; 135C, 3 bar, 20 minutes) and extruded MBM; conventional non-extruded MBM; and HPT non-extruded MBM.

Texas A&M to host petfood extrusion short course
A Practical Short Course on Feeds and PetFood Extrusion will be presented January 29 through February 3, 2012, at Texas A&M University by staff, petfood industry representatives and consultants. The program will cover designing new feed mills and selecting conveying, drying, grinding, conditioning and feed mixing equipment.

The petfood safety segment on "Business Day with Terry Bradshaw" will air again in select US regional markets in August. In the Huntsville, Decatur and Florence, Alabama, USA markets, the petfood safety segment will re-air on Saturday, August 6, 13, 20 and 27, at 8 a.m. on the Fox WZDX-TV channel.
