The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA)’s 2010 Equipment Manufacturers Conference will be held at Lowe’s Ventana Canyon Hotel in Tucson, Arizona USA, Nov. 4 - 6. The event is open to designers, builders and installers of equipment used in the production of livestock feed, petfood and related ingredients.

Mars Petcare US makes cat food donation to Gulf Coast
Mars Petcare US donated more than 15,000 pounds of cat food to southeastern Louisiana USA's Gulf Coast. This was the second donation by Mars to aid the Gulf Coast outreach efforts of the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA).

Spending increasing in Latin America petfood and pet care market
Latin Americans are spending more money on products and services for their pets despite the poor economy, according to an online article from The Independent. A July 15 report from Euromonitor International indicated that Latin American and Caribbean pet owners are spending more money than previously on pet care goods and services, such as petfood, toys, fashion accessories, health care and grooming.

Since 2007, petfood and pet product sales have continued to rise during one of the bleakest global economic climates in decades. Despite the recession and recalls, American Pet Product Association's 2008 research shows pet supply distribution has reached a US$4.2 billion total. Worldwide retail sales of dog and cat food reached nearly US$53 billion in 2008, according to data from Euormonitor International. That's a total growth of 34% from the 2004 amount of US$38.9 billion.
