Synthetic preservatives in my pet’s food — no thanks!

Pet owners and pet food companies may not realize what is missing when it comes to removing synthetic preservatives in pet food.

Modern food chemistry has allowed us to create convenient nutritious foods that are available year-round, retain their freshness, fulfill the animal’s nutrient needs and are shelf stable for months. Besides advances in packaging, much of the improvement in shelf life was made possible by synthetic preservatives. This has not been by accident. These food chemicals have come about through deliberate development and have passed rigorous testing for safety and efficacy. But, human nature being what it is…a level of distrust persists and consumers are requesting natural alternatives.
