The Global Alliance of Pet Food Associations has opened a new affiliate membership category to expand participation beyond pet food manufacturers.

The category allows internationally active ingredient suppliers, packaging and equipment manufacturers, analytical laboratories, logistics companies and allied industry associations to join the organization. GAPFA represents over 90% of global prepared pet food production through its member associations.

"By welcoming Affiliate Members, we are broadening GAPFA's global community and strengthening our ability to address shared challenges and opportunities across the pet food value chain," said GAPFA president Loretta Hunter. "This strategic expansion reinforces our collective commitment to advancing pet food safety, sustainability, and industry best practices worldwide."

Affiliate members will receive access to global networking opportunities, regular communications and participation in GAPFA events and expert workstreams. They can nominate experts to contribute to technical discussions and standards efforts at international bodies.

Affiliate members do not hold voting rights or board representation. GAPFA activities remain non-commercial.

Organizations can apply for affiliate membership by contacting the GAPFA Secretariat at [email protected].

GAPFA, established in Belgium in 2014, works to advance pet food safety, nutrition, sustainability and trade by supporting development of global standards and engaging with regulators and stakeholders.
