Nutritional management of copper-associated hepatitis in the Labrador Retriever
Canine hereditary copper-associated hepatitis is characterized by gradual hepatic copper accumulation eventually leading to liver cirrhosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a low-copper, high-zinc diet as an alternative to continuous d-penicillamine treatment for the long-term management of canine copper-associated hepatitis.

Effects of increasing salt in diets of healthy cats
High dietary salt (NaCl) concentrations are assumed to be beneficial in preventing formation of calcium oxalate (CaOx) uroliths in cats, since increased water intake and urine volume have been observed subsequent to intake. The aim of this study was to clarify the role of dietary NaCl in the formation of CaOx uroliths in cats.

Effects of diets containing whole white lupin seeds on rabbit doe milk
The effect of dietary inclusion of white lupin seed (WLS) on the milk composition and yield of rabbit does as well as the performance of their litters was studied. Two lactation diets (SL and LL) and two weaning diets (SW and LW) were formulated.

Effects of soybean meal inclusion on health of adult dogs
Two studies were conducted using adult dogs to evaluate the effects of increasing the inclusion of soybean meal in an adult dog food on body composition, hematological, biochemical blood analyses and total tract nutrient digestibility. Nutritionally complete and balanced diets were formulated with commercial-grade soybean meal to replace 0, 10, 20 or 30% of the protein provided by dried chicken protein resulting in final soybean meal inclusion of 0, 6, 11.5 and 17%, respectively.

Drinking preferences in chinchillas, degus and guinea pigs
Chinchillas, degus and guinea pigs are South American rodents living in a semi-arid habitat with varying, species-specific adaptations to water deprivation. Nonetheless, several diseases have been linked to insufficient water intake when these species are kept as pets, such as urolithiasis or obstipation.
