Abinpet organizes international business roundtable during FIFA World Cup
Three international guests from the Brazilian Association of the Industry of Products for Pets (Abinpet) took part in a business program in Brazil in the Copa do Mundo (World Cup) Project, conducted by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brazil).The program was held June 9–13, 2014, with four acting pillars: Industry presentation, visits to retail stores and factories, and business roundtables.

Global Pet Foods removes China-produced pet treats from stores
Canada's Global Pet Foods is pulling China-made pet treats from 160 of its stores, effective immediately. This decision comes on the heels of US-based Petco and PetSmart releasing statements of similar intent, though their move is voluntary (Global Pet Foods' is mandatory) and not immediate.

Food Sentry, a global food monitoring service, said it may understand why the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has yet to figure out why dogs are becoming ill fromchicken jerky treats. While the FDA has posted more than 280 test results, that testing has all been conducted on the finished jerky treat products, rather than on any of the treats' ingredients.

Alltech builds algae plant, expands Latin America production
Alltech is constructing a Latin America algae production plant on the same premises as Alltech Sao Pedro. This US$63 million investment in Brazil will generate more than 200 direct and indirect jobs, and it will increase Alltech’s Latin America production by 58%, according to the company.
