USDA food safety committees eliminated by executive order

The decision is part of the Trump administration’s move to reduce the federal government.

Two U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) food safety advisory committees were disbanded last week – the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods (NACMCF) and the National Advisory Committee on Meat and Poultry Inspection (NACMPI), according to Reuters. 

An email from the USDA to committee members notifying them of the decision cited President Donald Trump’s executive order “Commencing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy” as the reason for the committees’ elimination, according to the Washington Post.
