Lawsuit against American Pet Food Manufacturing Company claims supplier money owed

Georgia-based food supply company Foodpros Marketing Inc. has filed a lawsuit against pet treat manufacturer American Pet Food Manufacturing Company (APFM) for allegedly failing to pay for US$155,000 worth of chicken breasts and other items it had ordered. Foodpros filed the complaint on May 1, 2014, in US District Court in London.

US petfood spending keys on wellness, treats

Overall US pet care spending is projected to grow nearly 5% this year, topping out at US$58.5 billion, according to the American Pet Products Association (APPA). Of that, US petfood spending is expected to reach US$22.62 billion by the end of 2014, after increasing 4.5% in 2013 to a total of US$21.57 billion, APPA said.

According to a Packaged Facts pet shopper survey conducted in January/February 2014, US dog and cat owners are increasingly seeking out petfood products with functional, health-related or nutrition claims.
