Kormotech has expanded distribution to Qatar and Nigeria, bringing its total global reach to 46 countries. The Ukrainian-based company currently supplies around 1,065 tons of pet food annually to the Middle East and Africa (MEA) and plans to increase this volume as demand rises across the region.

In Qatar, Kormotech is launching its Club 4 Paws cat food line, while pet owners in Nigeria will find both cat and dog food from the same brand in local pet stores.

The MEA pet food market is on a steady growth trajectory, projected to grow from $5.39 billion in 2023 to $6.46 billion by 2028, with a compound annual growth rate of 4.32% through 2033. Rising pet ownership, particularly among younger generations and the middle class, as well as an increasing focus on animal wellness, are fueling this growth.

“Compared to developed markets, the competition in Qatar and Nigeria is lower, but these markets are growing rapidly,” said Mykola Deviatov, head of Strategic Business Unit 3 – South-Eastern Europe, Central Asia & Middle East.

Adapting flavors to local markets

To meet the preferences of local consumers, Kormotech adapted its product offerings for the new markets, expanding its recipe lineup with chicken, lamb and fish options. Across the MEA region, demand continues to rise for premium and super-premium pet food made with natural ingredients, functional additives and vitamins.

“Local consumers tend to trust established manufacturers, but they are also open to new brands that offer a balanced composition at an affordable price,” Deviatov added. “Kormotech's products meet these expectations.”

Kormotech began its MEA expansion in 2019 and has since entered markets including Turkey, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Morocco. Over the past five years, the company reports a tenfold increase in sales across the region.

“We expect not only increased sales volumes but also strengthened brand positioning in the MEA region with our entry into the Qatar and Nigeria markets,” said Deviatov. “We see great potential in building long-term partnerships with local distributors.”

To support this growth and connect with new partners, Kormotech will participate in PetWorld Arabia 2025, an international B2B exhibition taking place April 19-20 in Dubai.
