Raw pet food adoption: What does the future hold?

Companies offering raw pet food, like Primal Pet Foods, are innovating with new products and research showing the benefits of feeding this and similar types of pet foods. Is that resonating with pet owners?

According to a survey of more than 600 pet owners in five countries, adoption of alternative pet food formats is starting to gain traction. With raw in particular, about 25% of respondents said they had fed their pets biologically appropriate raw food (BARF) or similar products over the previous six months. The survey, conducted in late 2023 by Pets International magazine and Yummypets, an online community for pet owners based in Europe, included pet owners from Belgium, France, Canada, the U.K. and the U.S.
