Lamb meal, as in “lamb meal and rice formulas,” is a distinct and specific ingredient with its own “nutritional mystique” – at least according to consumers.
These folks must be making their decisions on some pretty strong hunches or testimonials because there isn’t much nutritional information available about lamb meal. There is, however, an overwhelming amount of regulatory information surrounding the import/export restrictions due to concerns over transmission of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and scrapie. The food safety and trade issues are understandable, but, the lack of nutritional information is not.
