The Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) and Freshpet, a fresh pet food brand, have announced a partnership to advance their shared goal of strengthening the human-animal bond through research, education and advocacy.

“At Freshpet, we believe that pets are family, and they deserve the very best nutrition to help them thrive,” said Billy Cyr, Freshpet’s CEO. “Our mission is to elevate the way we feed our pets with fresh food that nourishes all. By partnering with HABRI, we’re excited to support research that underscores the vital role pets play in our lives.”

Research has shown a connection between the health of pet parents and the health of their pets. Good nutrition plays a vital role, with pet parents who have strong human-animal bonds being more likely to provide high-quality nutrition for their pets, noted Freshpet. These strong bonds with our pets are also linked to improved mental and physical health.

“Understanding and promoting the connection between the wellbeing of people and pets is a shared mission for both Freshpet and HABRI,” said Steven Feldman, president of HABRI.
