Simmons names senior vice president as Craig Bacon plans retirement

Longtime Simmons executive Dr. Craig Bacon will retire in 2026, with food industry veteran Marcia Reeves stepping in to lead technical services.

Simmons Foods announced a planned leadership transition as Dr. Craig Bacon, senior vice president of technical services, prepares to retire in 2026. Marcia Reeves has been appointed to succeed him in the role.

Bacon, who has spent decades shaping the company’s technical operations, expressed confidence in his successor.

“Having known Marcia for years, I can say without hesitation that she has an excellent reputation in the industry,” Bacon said. “Her expertise, innovative thinking, and alignment with Simmons’ culture and values make her the perfect fit for this position.”

Reeves joins Simmons from Pilgrim’s, where she serves as vice president of R&D, innovation, and regulatory. Her background includes leadership roles across product development, packaging engineering, and regulatory oversight. She holds an MBA from Colorado State University and degrees in meat science and food science from Oklahoma State University.

“Dr. Craig Bacon has been an extraordinary leader whose vision and dedication have left an indelible mark on Simmons,” said David Jackson, chief operating officer. “With Marcia Reeves, we gain a leader with technical expertise, respected industry reputation, and a commitment to excellence.”

The company noted Bacon and Reeves will work together during a transition period to ensure continuity across technical operations.
