Texas A&M offers extruded pet food short course in July

The hybrid program covers extrusion, food safety, nutrition and more for pet food and treat manufacturers.

Texas A&M University will host its 11th annual Practical Short Course on Extruded Pet Foods and Treats July 6-10, 2026, in a hybrid format.

The program is presented by Texas A&M staff, industry representatives and consultants, and covers a broad range of topics relevant to pet food and treat manufacturing, including nutrition, raw material handling, preconditioning, extrusion hardware, automation, meat handling, drying, cooling, enrobing, product analysis, food safety, shelf life, and troubleshooting. Baked pet treats and non-extruded treats are also included in the curriculum.

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
