A pet food company’s social media strategy can reflect powerfully on the brand, and on April 3, 2017, Petfood Forum attendees will learn about social media marketing from Randi Zuckerberg, Facebook’s former director of market development. Zuckerberg will deliver the opening address at Petfood Forum 2017 on how to use social media and other marketing platforms to reach today’s consumers.

Randi Zuckerberg founded Zuckerberg Media, a boutique marketing firm and media production company. Prior to founding her own company, Zuckerberg worked at Facebook, where she created and ran the social media company’s marketing programs from 2005-2011. She is the sister of the company’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg.

Social media and internet influence pet food market

She is the author of Dot Complicated, which explores how social meadia and daily life have become intertwined. The book was a New York Times bestseller that inspired a website and satellite radio program hosted by Zuckerberg.

That blending of social media into everyday activities applies to pet food. A dog or cat food company’s online presence has become a necessity for pet food success, reported Petfood Industry. Many pet food buyers who didn’t actually purchase online still were informed by information found online. More than 40 percent of pet food sales are “digitally influenced,” according to 2015 Euromonitor data cited by the Clavis Insight Index’s “US Pet Food Report.”

Entrepreneurship and the pet food industry

Zuckerberg also stars in “Quit Your Day Job” on NBC’s Oxygen, where she mentors and invests in entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurship may be the lifeblood of the pet food industry. Many companies and narratives are driving pet food entrepreneurs’ progression and growth, reported Petfood Industry, because by bringing in new people, ideas, perspectives and infusions of passion, these companies keep the pet food industry fresh and growing.
