After major international pet shows got cancelled early in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of China International Pet Show (CIPS) have introduced a solution that combines social networking and social distancing through an online trade show platform where buyers can search for pet products and communicate with suppliers without meeting personally.

At the digital show, physical contact is practically down to zero as pet products from featured Chinese manufacturers can only be viewed online. Technical support in terms of promotion, matchmaking and other business services will be provided by CIPS virtually, and buyers can only place orders and negotiate deals online.

“The CIPS Online Trade Show is the first online trade show in the pet industry,” said Yang Cheng, chairwoman of CIPS. “It has both Chinese and English versions and is open to the whole industry worldwide. At this special time, the online trade show will help to connect manufacturers with buyers in the most efficient way. The online platform and CIPS offline show complement each other and made CIPS the one and only B2B trade platform in Asia.”

About the planned CIPS Online Trade Show installments

The first CIPS Online Trade Show kicked off June 22–26, 2020, with exhibits from Zhejiang manufacturers for European buyers. That event will be followed by three more sessions for Zhejiang manufacturers in July 2020, each targeting buyers from Asia, Russia and North America.

Unlike as with an in-person trade show, the online version allows sellers to showcase as many products as they want without having to bring them to an exhibit hall. Buyers can browse the exhibits, study the products, watch live broadcasts and product videos, and make online inquiries or set virtual meetings with the manufacturers, all at their leisure and without any kind of inhibition, which some experience when visiting exhibitor booths.

Depending on the state of the COVID-19 pandemic in the coming months, CIPS organizers are hopeful they can hold the actual China International Pet Show November 12–15, 2020, in Guangzhou. It will be the 24th time it will be staged and is expected to bring together 1,500 exhibitors and more than 80,000 buyers from more than 120 countries in 130,000 square meters of show space.
