The USDA is reporting that on December 12, 2025, the Republic of Korea Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs amended the Notice of Import Health Requirements for Pet Food to allow an additional two-year grace period for compliance with new import health requirements.
Under the original requirements published January 14, 2025, pet food products exported to South Korea within the previous year could continue using existing health certificates without facility approval until December 31, 2025. The amendment extends this grace period until December 31, 2027.
Pet food containing ruminant ingredients must comply with the new import health requirements regardless of the extended deadline.
