French pet food producer Normandise Pet Food is expanding its manufacturing capacities, hoping to accommodate the increasing demand for its products in domestic and foreign markets, according to a senior company representative.

Julien Moureaux, head of communications at Normandise Pet Food, told Petfoodindustry.com that the business specializes in making wet dog and cat food sold in trays and pouches. Normandise sells its products under its own brands, but also supplies pet food to retailers under private label deals, and manufactures for domestic and foreign pet food brands.

Investments to ramp up capacities

“Between the fourth quarter of 2022 and the first half of 2023, we installed a new pouch packaging line and two new processing lines,” Moreaux said. “We remain in a dynamic of enhancing our capacities and the conditions in which our employees work.”

The latest investments are related to the producer’s rising sales in various markets. “We are already present in countries from five continents,” he explained. “We have consolidated our existing markets, and we are advancing in South America and Southeast Asia, among others.

“We are always looking for innovations both in terms of finished products and raw materials that could meet [the demand in] the pet food markets,” Moreaux continued. “Each country has its own pet food market with consumption habits specific to its country.”

The French company runs a plant in Vire Normandie, in the country’s northwestern region, and manufactures a wide range of pet food products for cats and dogs. These consist of “tailor-made products based on animal and vegetable ingredients, in the form of pate, mousses, fillets packed in trays, and also chunks, fillets in sauce or in jelly, packed in pouches, i.e. freshness bags,” according to Normandise Pet Food.

Multiple pet food brands on the market since 1991

Normandise sells its products under a number of brands, including Equilibre & Instinct, Les Repas Plaisir, Eco Diana and Eco Oscar, among others, according to data from the company.

Established in 1991 by Christian Duquesne and his wife Catherine Duquesne, the business employs about 800 persons, as indicated by figures from Normandise Pet Food.
