Fromm Family Foods redirects funding away from animal research

The Wisconsin, U.S.-based pet food manufacturer joins 20 other companies in supporting non-animal research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison Food Research Institute.

Fromm Family Foods has redirected its sponsorship funding at the University of Wisconsin–Madison Food Research Institute to support non-animal research.

The Food Research Institute, which conducts tests on animals related to food and food ingredients, recently changed its sponsorship policy to create the "Food Research Institute Programmatic (Non-animal) Support Fund," allowing sponsors to direct donations away from animal testing. Fromm joins PepsiCo, Campbell Soup Company and 18 other sponsors that have either directed donations to the non-animal fund or ended sponsorship.

The National Institutes of Health recently announced plans to reduce animal experiments and prioritize human-relevant research.
