Roam Pets has appointed Elsa Zimmerer as head of sales. Zimmerer brings more than 30 years of experience in consumer packaged goods and health and wellness sectors.
In her new role, Zimmerer will focus on expanding distribution partnerships with brokers, retailers and field teams for Roam's pet treats made from novel proteins including ostrich, kangaroo, crocodile and venison.

Roam sources proteins not commonly used in conventional pet food. The company noted that according to a 2023 University of Western Australia study, wild, free-roaming proteins like kangaroo have lower greenhouse gas emissions than conventional livestock because they produce less methane and don't require intensive feed systems, housing or routine antibiotic use.
A 2023 AgriFutures report found cattle generate approximately 12 times more greenhouse gases per kilogram of meat produced compared to kangaroo, said the company.
