Nicolas “Nico” Catoggio has been appointed to serve as the next president and CEO of Post Holdings, with Robert Vitale, who now holds those positions, transitioning to executive chairman of the company.

The changes will be effective October 1.

Catoggio has served as Post’s chief operating officer since January. Before that, he led Post Consumer Brands as president and CEO since September 2021. Prior to joining Post, he served as managing director and senior partner in Boston Consulting Group's (BCG) Consumer Goods practice. At BCG, Catoggio advised Post for many years on merger and acquisition (M&A) diligence, integrations and portfolio realignment, and was involved in numerous M&A transactions in the broader food and beverage industry.

"Nico is an exceptional leader," Vitale said. "Over the past several years, he has driven strong performance at Post Consumer Brands, led integration of acquisitions, and earned the trust of our teams across the organization. He has the right judgement and experience to lead the company as we continue to execute our strategy to create long-term value for our shareholders."

Vitale served as the president and CEO of Post Holdings since 2014. He joined the company during the time of its spinoff from Ralcorp Holdings, Inc. and was the company’s chief financial officer from 2011-2014. He has been a member of the board of directors at Post Holdings since 2014.

During his tenure at Post, Vitale oversaw the expansion of the company into multiple new categories, into international markets and led over 50 unique capital markets and M&A transactions. As executive chairman, Vitale will provide strategic guidance on capital allocation and advise Catoggio in his new role as CEO.

Post Holdings is the parent company of Michael Foods, the 12th largest egg producer in the United States. According to the Egg Industry Top Companies Special Report, it has a flock of 10.7 million hens. Post Holdings finalized its acquisition of Michael Foods in 2014.

Post also owns several pet food brands including Rachael Ray Nutrish, Nature's Recipe, 9Lives, Kibbles 'n Bits, and Gravy Train. In addition, the company acquired a private label dog and cat food business in the U.S. and Canada from The J.M. Smucker Company in 2023.
