Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food donated 7,976 pounds of dog and cat food to Angels to the Animals and other small rescue organizations, providing approximately 32,000 meals to pets in need through its Fill A Bowl Feed A Soul program, which has donated over 4 million meals nationally.

Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food donated 7,976 pounds of dog and cat food to Angels to the Animals, a foster-based animal rescue group that serves Denver, North Carolina, and surrounding communities. The donation, equal to approximately 32,000 meals, was made through the company's Fill A Bowl ... Feed A Soul program, a national campaign that has donated more than 4 million meals to pets in need.
According to the company, Angels to the Animals was selected to receive the donation because, as a small independent rescue, it offers adoption through fostering. The rescue provides each dog or cat with a medical check, microchip and personality assessment before adoption.
"The ability to offer fostering as a bridge to adoption is an incredible service," said Jeanne Blandford, senior director of marketing for Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food. "It offers potential adopters a tangible record of the pet's personality, health and special needs. This insight helps to make a forever adoption more likely. It takes a strong, caring community of foster volunteers to feed, assimilate and care for a pet that will eventually move on to a forever home. Our gratitude and admiration go out to these giving individuals."
There is such a huge need for help with food today, added Melissa Lang, co-founder and president of Angels to the Animals. "Donations, both food and monetary, have dropped significantly," Lang explained. "We have so many inquiries for assistance, and we hate to have to turn any need away. This donation was a huge blessing and will help so many! The donation was so generous that we chose to share it with several other smaller-based rescues in our area. Other rescue organizations that received a portion of the donation include Southeast Shih-Tzu Rescue, a nonprofit that focuses on hospice care and support for senior dogs; Crystal Acres Oasis Sanctuary and Rescue, a small, family-run rescue and sanctuary for animals of all kinds; Denver Dog Rescue, a one-woman rescue that focuses on rescue and training for special needs dogs; and The Carlee Cause Foundation, which helps find homes for senior dogs, provides dog and cat food through its Bountiful Blessing food bank and hosts a monthly pet bereavement and grief support group.
Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food launched in 2004 with a line of life stage cat and dog foods in wet and dry formats and added dog treats in 2016. The company's products are made in the U.S. and sold through independent pet specialty stores and online retailers. A portion of proceeds from the sale of Chicken Soup for the Soul pet food goes to the Fill A Bowl ... Feed A Soul program.
