FDA: no petfood yet included in pistachio recall

The FDA and the California Department of Public Health are investigating Salmonella contamination in pistachio products sold by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella Inc.

The  FDA  and the  California Department of Public Health  are  investigating   salmonella contamination in pistachio products sold by  Setton Pistachio  of Terra Bella Inc. As of now, a connection has not been made between the outbreak and any petfood or pet treats containing pistachios.

The company has stopped distributing the processed pistachios and is issuing a voluntary recall of about 1 million pounds of its products.

The contamination involves multiple strains of salmonella .

The FDA is working closely with the pistachio industry and recommends consumers avoid eating pistachio products until further information is available about the scope of affected products.
