While Amazon continues to introduce private label dog and cat foods, another e-commerce retailer, Brandless, has entered the pet sector. In January, Brandless began selling four varieties of dog treat, as well as an organic beef bone broth for dogs, under the online retailers’ eponymous private label brand.

Brandless now offers four varieties of private label dog treats:

  • Freeze-dried chicken liver dog treats
  • Freeze-dried chicken breast dog treats
  • Duck jerky recipe dog treats
  • Salmon and rice recipe dog treats

Like most products on Brandless, the treats cost $3. The online retailer aims to simplify pricing by selling items for either $3 or $9.

About Brandless online retail of pet foods and treats

Brandless, as the name implies, offers a brand desert in comparison to Amazon’s rainforest of pet food brands, including private labels such as Wag, Solimo and Lifelong Complete. Brandless specializes in selling only their own private label products.

Brandless started on July 11, 2017 with the goal of cutting out intermediaries and reducing marketing costs.

“By building direct relationships with our suppliers and customers from the start, we eliminate all the extra costs associated with inefficient and unnecessary markups,” according to the online retailer webpage.

Brandless also adheres to sustainability and clean label trends. In the case of the chicken liver dog treats, that includes marketing the products as:

  • grain-free,
  • no corn, soy or wheat,
  • no animal meal,
  • no artificial colors or flavors
  • no preservatives
  • single ingredient and
  • made in the U.S.
