From improper equipment to inefficient processes, various oversights can compromise food safety in the poultry industry, leading to foodborne illness and recalls that can have disastrous consequences for public health, consumer trust and the bottom line.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), there are approximately 48 million cases of foodborne illness every year – impacting approximately one in six Americans. Of these cases, an estimated 128,000 result in hospitalization and 3,000 in death.
