Royal Canin U.S. has been named the official nutrition partner of The Seeing Eye, the world's oldest existing guide dog organization. The partnership will provide tailored nutrition to all Seeing Eye dogs throughout their development and working lives.

Founded in 1929, The Seeing Eye has facilitated more than 18,000 matches between guide dogs and individuals across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The organization breeds and trains dogs to guide people who are blind, supporting their independence and mobility.

The Seeing Eye operates breeding programs for three primary breeds: German Shepherds, Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers. Approximately 500 puppies are born annually, with a 60% success rate for dogs deemed suitable for guide work. Dogs that do not qualify for guide or breeding programs are placed with other service organizations, law enforcement, search and rescue agencies or adoptive homes.

"Royal Canin is honored to play the important role of providing tailored nutrition to all Seeing Eye dogs throughout all of their life stages," said Don MacIntosh, vice president, Royal Canin Professional Division. "Each Seeing Eye dog enhances the story of someone's life, and the work we will do together extends Royal Canin's mission to make a better world for pets. Making a better world for Seeing Eye Dogs, and in turn their handlers, broadens our impact from health and nutrition to nourishing independence and deeply meaningful partnerships."

Royal Canin said it develops diets through scientific and nutritional research to create nutrition formulated for dogs based on life-stage and breed specifications. The company is part of Mars, Inc.'s portfolio of brands.

The Seeing Eye conducts genetics and behavioral research to improve dog health and well-being, educates handlers in guide dog care, and advocates for service animal handler rights.

"We are thrilled to partner with the pet health nutrition experts at Royal Canin to ensure support for the nutritional needs of Seeing Eye puppies and dogs through all life stages," said Karen Leies, president & CEO, The Seeing Eye. "Nutritional foundation is essential for the development of our dogs, helping them thrive as confident, capable partners for the people we serve."
