National Rendering Day April 21

The North American Renderers Association (NARA) has announced that the third annual National Rendering Day will take place on April 21, 2025. The date, intentionally set for the day before Earth Day, is meant to spotlight the rendering industry’s contributions to sustainability, food waste reduction, and environmental protection.

“We are honored to celebrate the third Annual National Rendering Day by recognizing all those in the rendering industry and the important work they do for environmental sustainability and food waste and loss prevention,” said Kent Swisher, NARA president and CEO. “Rendering upcycles material that would otherwise be wasted and is the purest example of the circular economy. The observance of National Rendering Day this Sunday and every April 21st is a great way to educate the public on the positive environmental impacts of rendering and why rendering is such a critical part of food waste and loss prevention.”

National Rendering Day was first established in 2023 following a proclamation from NARA and National Day Calendar. The observance aims to raise awareness of the role rendering plays across animal agriculture and related industries, including pet food, where rendered ingredients are widely used.
