Located in Tepatitlán, in the Los Altos region of Jalisco, Mexico, Previtep is celebrating two years since the inauguration of its new pet food plant. This fully automated facility marks a new chapter for the company and stands out as a benchmark in the local pet food industry.
The new plant, which replaces the previous facility, is equipped with cutting-edge technology designed to optimize every stage of production. From the precise blending of ingredients to automated packaging using advanced packing lines, the plant ensures efficiency, quality and safety in every batch. This infrastructure has significantly boosted Previtep’s production capacity to around 50,000 tons annually, representing a remarkable leap forward in its operations.
With this new facility, Previtep produces its own brands: Vitacan, including its Fortis and Extra lines, and its cat food brand, Michi, all recognized in the national market for their quality. Additionally, the company continues to play a strategic role in high-end contract manufacturing, including the production of Members Mark Sportsman’s Choice High Protein, developed exclusively for SAM’s Club. This move solidifies Previtep’s position as a key player both in proprietary brands and collaborations with major retailers.
A standout achievement of this new phase is obtaining all certifications required for export, such as FSSC22000, opening doors to the U.S. market and other international destinations. This not only strengthens Previtep’s position as a leader in the domestic market but also propels the company onto the global stage.
Beyond advanced production technology, Previtep is distinguished by the quality of its ingredients. Originally established as a producer of premixes for poultry, swine and cattle feed, the company has extensive experience in developing products that enhance the nutritional profile of animals, including pets.
The company also operates a laboratory approved by the Mexican government through SADER, equipped to perform comprehensive bromatological analysis of finished products, as well as complete raw material analyses to ensure validation and compliance with quality specifications.
