Data from the World Bank's WITS (World Integrated Trade Solution) showed how the country's pet food industry started to lose steam as soon as the military dictatorship seized power in 2021. Back then, the total import value of pet food was US$5.12 million (7.51 million kilograms). These numbers shrank to US$3.83 million in total imports (4.27 million kilograms) in 2022.
