Located in the western portion of mainland Southeast Asia, Myanmar, which many continue to call by its old name Burma, continues to be ruled by a military junta that seized power from a civilian government on February 1, 2021, an action that resulted in a civil war. As defiant civilians and ethnic-minority armies fight the military regime of Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, pets, strays and wildlife become the voiceless victims suffering on the sidelines from lack of food and refuge.
