Hydration trends in the pet food market

Hydration has always been vital for pets, and leaving fresh water out for them has long been a standard practice in pet-having homes. But the conversation around hydration has become more complex as pet food and treat brands have taken it upon themselves to provide options beyond wet pet food as hydration accompaniments or boosters.

“Water is the single most important nutrient for a pet’s health,” said Anne Marie Bakke, global nutrition advisor for Waltham Petcare Science Institute/Mars Inc. “While they might survive for weeks without food, they can only go a few days without water, which makes proper hydration a critical, non-negotiable part of their daily care.”
