Loopworm, a biosciences and biomanufacturing company specializing in sustainable insect-based products, has successfully obtained ISO 22000, GMP+ and HACCP certifications for its LoopFactory, a 6,000 tonne/year insect protein production facility in Bangalore. The company said these certifications solidify Loopworm’s commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in producing insect-derived protein for pet food and animal feed markets.
The ISO 22000 certification ensures that Loopworm's products meet stringent food safety standards, guaranteeing production in a controlled and hygienic environment to prevent contamination and the spread of harmful pathogens. The GMP+ (Good Manufacturing Practices for Feed) certification highlights the company's dedication to consistent quality control across all batches, crucial for international compliance, particularly in European markets. Meanwhile, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification demonstrates Loopworm’s proactive approach to risk management by identifying and mitigating biological, chemical, and physical hazards in its production process.
“These certifications position Loopworm as a credible and responsible supplier, aligning with global pet food safety and animal feed industry standards," said Ankit Alok Bagaria, cofounder of Loopworm. "Certifications like GMP+ are critical for entry into key markets like Europe, where strict regulations are in place for feed and pet food ingredients. Whether dealing with pet food companies or animal feed manufacturers, these certifications demonstrate Loopworm’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, and sustainable products, which is crucial in industries increasingly focused on animal health and welfare.”
