Nestlé S.A. announced the launch of the company's first Japan-based research unit for scientific research May 20 in a company press release .
The research unit, part of Nestlé Science and Research in Switzerland, is based at the University of Tokyo , and focuses on nutrition and health.
Nestlé, which has been present in Japan since 1913, currently operates three factories and produces coffee, chocolate and nutrition products as well as petfood.
