Canidae donates funds to cancer charities
Canidae Pet Foods conducted its first Amgen Road Bike Raffle to benefit cancer research in people and pets at the 2009 Amgen Tour of California, according to a company press release.
Canidae conducted the raffle to support the race's mission of promoting cancer awareness and research. Half of the proceeds went to the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation to fund canine cancer research and the other half to Lance Armstrong's Livestrong Cancer Awareness Foundation , according to the release.
"Canidae is planning on being at several national events throughout the year promoting responsible pet ownership and supporting local independent petfood retailers while raising funds for cancer research in people and pets at the same time," said Jason Castillo, controller for Canidae.
