Keys Manufacturing Co. Inc. recalled pet chews made of pig's ears because of possible Salmonella contamination.
The Paris, Illinois, USA, petfood maker's Pig Ears for Pet Treats were distributed in the following US states: Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia. So far, the treats have been linked to one illness in a Missouri, USA, dog, according to the company.
Salmonella can affect both humans and pets. Symptoms in humans include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Pets with Salmonella may be lethargic, have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Consumers can return the pet treats to the place of purchase for a full refund.
