Nestle reported sales up 5.3 percent to CHF45.2 billion (US$48.8 billion) for the first six months of 2013 with growth in both North and Latin America, including the company's Purina pet care division.
The company reported strong growth specifically in cat food and treats in North America. In Latin America, pet care delivered double-digit growth across the region. In total, the North American zone reported sales of CHF13.6 billion (US$14.7 billion).
Europe's sales were CHF7.5 billion (US$8.1 billion) in total. Sales were aided by growth in the Purina pet care brand in the premium pet segment, with brands such as Proplan, ONE Dry and Gourmet. The company is also investing in a new pet care factory in Poland.
