In the fourth quarter of 2016, Lohmann Animal Nutrition GmbH will change its name to Kaesler Nutrition GmbH.

Lohmann Tierzucht GmbH instituted legal proceedings against Cuxhaven, Germany-based Lohmann Animal Nutrition over the use of the name “Lohmann” in their company name, according to materials from soon-to-be Kaesler Nutrition. The animal nutrition company states that with the decision to rename, they will avoid a time- consuming legal battle.

Pet food additive company structure unchanged

Only the name of the pet food ingredient company will change. The legal form of the company will remain the same. All employment conditions, including contracts among the company and its customers, remain unchanged, apart from the legally necessary update of the company name.

“We are currently working on the expansion of our business field and on a future-oriented positioning, so this is not happening at an inopportune moment,” said Bruno Kaesler, PhD, managing director of the animal nutrition company, in a press release. “However, we were surprised by the lawsuit.”

Companies share a common history

“We have not taken the decision to rename lightly,” said Kaesler. “Of course, we identify ourselves with our history of almost 50 years that began in 1967 with Lohmann Tierernährung, from which we originate in direct line. We incorporate decades of experience, knowledge, and a high quality standard when it comes to feed additives and we will carry on doing so in the future, but it will no longer be in connection with the name Lohmann. At the end of the day we define ourselves through our values and our performance, not via the name."
