Darwin’s Natural Pet Products recalled certain lots of its Darwin’s ZooLogics dog food on Monday, February 13, reported the Seattle Times. The recall resulted from potential Salmonella contamination. Tukwila, Washington, USA-based Darwin’s announced the recall via a statement sent directly to consumers.
Darwin’s recalled ZooLogics Chicken and Vegetable Meals for Dogs that were manufactured on November 2, 2017 and ZooLogics Duck and Vegetable Meals for Dogs that were manufactured on November 16, 2017.
“We believe most of this product has already been consumed, for the most part without incident…” the company said in a statement. “We are aware of a single case of a pet being affected, which involved a dog who was already ill with other conditions.”
Recent Salmonella related recalls of pet food
These three pet foods and treats were recalled for potential Salmonella contamination in the past two weeks.
Raws for Paws of Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA is recalling approximately 4,000 pounds of its 5 pound and 1 pound chubs of ground turkey pet food because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, according to the United States Food and Drug Administration.
Two illnesses of children in one household have been reported to date in connection with Raws for Paws’ problem with Salmonella contamination of pet food. The recalled ground turkey pet food was distributed throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa directly to consumers and through online mail orders.
Smokehouse Pet Products, Inc. of Sun Valley, California, USA is recalling 4-ounce bags of dog treats labeled as “Beefy Munchies,” because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, according to the United States Food and Drug Administration.
“Beefy Munchies” dog treats were distributed in Washington, Michigan, North Carolina and Colorado through distributors selling to various retailers.
Redbarn Pet Products of Long Beach, California, USA voluntarily recalled a single product, Redbarn’s 7-inch Bully Stick three pack, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, according to the United States Food and Drug Administration. No illnesses, injuries or complaints have been reported.
