Layoffs at West Liberty Foods tied to reduced production

Fifty-four overhead positions were laid off in Illinois, Iowa and Utah.

Due to persistent issues brought on by Covid-19, Iowa-based protein processor, West Liberty Foods, has announced layoffs of 54 overhead positions, according to the Quad-City Times.

“For the past several months, our team worked to cut costs and improve efficiencies in order to avoid the need to eliminate positions,” said Dan Waters, chief legal officer for West Liberty Foods. “But we can’t responsibly remain fully staffed while production operates at a reduced capacity.”
