The European Pet Food Industry Federation (FEDIAF) has published the 2025 edition of its Nutritional Guidelines for Complete and Complementary Pet Food for Cats and Dogs. The guidelines serve as the primary reference for nutritionally balanced pet food across Europe and are recognized by regulators, veterinarians and nutrition experts.

The 2025 edition reflects the annual review conducted by FEDIAF's Nutrition Working Group and its independent Scientific Advisory Board to align the guidelines with current scientific knowledge and regulatory requirements.

Updates in the 2025 edition include refined nutrient tables to maintain accuracy with current data and clarifications in annexes to support manufacturers and professionals in applying the guidelines.

"These guidelines are the result of careful scientific review, and it's gratifying to know they continue to guide pet nutrition across Europe," said Lisa Conboy-Schmidt, chair of the FEDIAF Nutrition Working Group. "Every clarification and adjustment helps pets enjoy healthier, happier lives. I would like to sincerely thank the members of FEDIAF's Scientific Advisory Board for their expertise and dedication, which ensures that our recommendations remain both accurate and practical for manufacturers, veterinarians, and pet owners alike."

The guidelines are used by pet food manufacturers, veterinarians and regulators throughout Europe. The full FEDIAF Nutritional Guidelines 2025 are available in PDF format on the organization's website.
